The Mad Rush for CanCon.

Ok yes I know that Cancon finished like 3 weeks ago but since it ended I have been too busy to really post and through Janurary I was so busy getting all my painting done, having realised 2 weeks out that I wasn't finished, to post anyway. So here is the catch up. (Oh and yes I know I didn't have this up until the middle of March as I thought I had published it but hadn't. Oh well.)

The Wiard Guns.
I am reasonably happy with how they turned out, since I had no plans and was doing it entirely from old photos. You'll notice that one of the guns is a little lower in its cradle than the other. This is where I thought the guns should sit but having got one together it looked too low.

The Limber.
Perry Miniatures metal Confederate limber and team. Having now played with it, it's a bit too big for the table (maybe 4 horses or even two) but it got some good comments especially when people realised that I had added all the chains and cables to the pulls.

Confedrate versions of the Union cav I did eariler. Note the mix of weapons.

Heroes and Sharpshooters.
The "Longstreet" rules require markers/figures to represent unit heroes and sharpshooters. here are mine. Converted Perry plastics.

A converted Perry plastic to represent my commander in chief. Zouave officer torso with cavalryman's legs and some green stuff.

Final Round Up for 2017.

So ok Janurary is half over and only now am I posting what I got finished over December. Well we all know how crazy things can get over Christmas and New Years so that is understandable. But after that I seemed to be doing so many little things that I either didn't have time to post, go distracted or just plain couldn't be bothered.

Anyway, from December;

1/72 German Trucks. Frankenstien creations of PSC cabs and trays and scratch built chassis.

1/72 Airfix Parachute jeep and trailer.

Airfix 75mm Pack howitzer. From the same kit as above.

1/72 British 4.5" howitzers. By HAT. Built straight from the kit

Same as above but with rubber tyres from the spares box. These will represent those guns kept in service but converted to motorised towing between the two World Wars.

A wierd gun.

In fact a Wiard gun. An early ACW artillry piece the was very inovative but never really caught on. As I need some 6pdr guns for my ACW forces and I don't have a lathe to turn out the standard gun and I kinda like this one and no one made one in 25/28mm I was hooked. Of course after starting all this I now discover that someone actually does offer 6pdr and 12pdr Wiard guns in 28mm but pooey to them.

Assembled. I am going to use some leftover wheels from some Perry plastic limbers rather than trying to make my own.

The Gun master. Yes it is made from greenstuff as I have no lathe.

An idea of scale.

After months of inactivity...

... a flood of completions. Seems to be the way I go and until I started keeping the blog I had never really noticed it. Anyway the figures.

Federal Reinforcements. This brings at least 3 units upto the standard size for the "Longstreet" ACW rules.

Confederate reinforcements. Again for the "Longstreet" rules and in this case a unit which is an amalgam of a number of small early war units mostly from Lousianna.

Horseless Cavalry.

Well ... dismounted Union ACW cavalry anyway. These are all minor conversions from Perry Miniatures plastic Confederate Infantry. Will have to do some Rebel troopers on foot.

Something Completed...

...at last and mostly completed. Usually I don't declare a figure/model done until it is based.but as it has been over three months since that happened, I just saying this is done and will do the base in a couple of weeks.

The figure is the Reaper Miniatures dragon "Ebonwrath" and this one is their "Bones" version. The colour choice was random as part of a challenge on the Reaper forums called "Random Rainbow Dragon". The challenge was to paint the figure in just three colours (plus balck and white) rolled from a group of 20 colours. The first colour rolled up had to be the main colour with the others used less often. I will post a link to the finished dragons thread when it comes up.

Anyway, Ebonwrath!
