Of Printing and Painting.

So having got a 3D printer for birthday/Christmas/Father's day present I have been testing it out. One of the first things I printed was a figure from Heroforge to see if it was possible to 3D print character figures for games, mostly RPG's (and no I don't mean anti tank grenades). The results were dissappointing.

However after much reading and watching (Youtube has a small amount of instructional gold on it) I have mucked about with the settings a bit and the results are below. Both are from Artisan Guild who as far as I know only do .stl files. Anyway, here they are...

Alvar on Thunderbeak.

Alvar is from Artisan Guild's Dwarf set from a couple of months ago. I got these through their Pateron group.  Each month they have a survey on what sort of figures people want the following month and in each there is a hero figure. Also each month there is a prize for painting the hero figure up. Needless to say I am yet to win.

Overall I am happy with Alvar but the printing of his mount got a little rough on the right side of the head for some reason. Oh, I am printing on a Flashforge Adventurer 3 FDM printer. The model is a single piece.

Vesdra on Gorefang.

This time they modeled mount and rider separately, which makes painting soo much easier. They also did a free-standing version of Vesdra (which I still need to finish) so I had the idea of being able dismount Gorefang. To that end both models have small (3mm) rare earth magnets in them which holds Vesdra fairly well to Gorefang's back.

And for a complete change of pace...

The German 17cm Kanone 18. Model by Tigerace1945 (I think) found on Thingiverse. Printed at 20mm scale. I should now do a 21cm Morser 18 to go with it and complete the heavy artillery batallion.

Reaching for the Stars.

Ok so I haven't actually done all of this this month. This has been a long time printing and then painting with only the current form done.

So I am an RPG group that plays Starfinder, and sometimes we need a spaceship. The Starship III came along at just the right time and so viola, here is our spaceship.

If we upgrade the ship I might print out new bits that can be added or swapped in, hence the comment about its current form. I might also go back and touch up a few details.

Anyway, enjoy.

Opps, I did it again.

And I never did like Britney Spears.

But yes I have done it again. Everything in this post was completed for a large game at the end of June but I never got around to posting the pics due to 1) work went nuts, 2)demands on my time and 3) just a tad tired of it all.

For those keeping count there is 137 figures in the "batch".

The Line Infantry.

Most of the figures are Old Glory.

A few figures from Eureka Miniatures to fill out the numbers and create command groups.

More Eureka Jaegers for some Freikorps.

Cows with guns.

Literally. Well not exactly a cow but a Minotaur, or rather a Naur from the Starfinder RPG. I earned a boon that allowed me to create a character of this race. Since I couldn't find any Sci-Fi minotaurs that I liked I went and created one. The body is a GW Primaris Spacemarine Reaver whilst the head is from a Reaper Bones minotaur.

The other figure is from the Infinity wargame range. It came in one of the Dire Foes box sets, the "Candy Cloud". This is the Nexus-7. I am using him as my Shirren Operative (again for Starfinder RPG). The Shirren being bug people rather than ravenous, mindless monsters I couldn't find anything suitable but this guy is close.

Mayday, Mayday.

Well actually May-day, note the spacing, is at the start of the month rather than the end. Nor is this about an emergency, disaster or anything like that. Its more that, as is usual, I am posting what I finished by the end of the month a week or so into the following month.

Anyway, Austrian artillery of various sizes.

I have no idea who most of the manufacturers are and I know that some are Frankenstien type creations. But they look the part and hopefully will serve well.

Hungarian Hussars.

1st Regiment, Kaiser Franz.

 2nd Regiment, Nádasdy.

3rd Regiment, Pálffy.

All the figures are Old Glory and the standards by Vaubanner Graphics.

April Foolishness.

o yes it is now May and again I am posting objects painted in the month before. My excuse this time is that I am still getting used to the new computer which is running Windows 10 (boo, hiss, hate).
Anyway....

First up, the gunners, 26of them in fact. A mix of Old Glory, Wargames Factory and I think AB.

A mix of Grenze infantry. One unit of AB figures and another of unknown origin with a single Wargames Foundry Napoleonic ring in to make up numbers. The guys in blue were not all painted by me but the painted had chipped badly and I needed to touch them up.

Generals by Old Glory.

The last regiments of the Grenadier brigade. Mostly Old Glory figures with some Wargames Foundry and AB to make up numbers.
